Hampshire Open Studios Venue
Andover Arts & Crafts
15th to 28th August
Once again we open our doors as a Hampshire Open Studios venue hosting our local arts & crafts society, Andover Arts & Crafts. This, their second exhibition of 2017, showcases the local talent in our area with an exhibition that covers a wide variety of media and subject matter.
We will also be part of a local art trail in the Andover area during Open Studios, so why not pick up a brochure while you are here and visit other local artist studios after you have viewed the exhibition. If you would like to find out more about Andover Arts & Crafts there will be information about their events and joining at our venue.
Exploring the Landscape
5th to 16th September
Keith is an artist, painter and printmaker. Always popular with visitors to the Gallery, Keith’s vibrant colourful abstracts explore his own personal vision of the landscape, inviting you to see it afresh through his eyes. Visual motifs inform a sense of place, whilst his use of colour lifts his pictures beyond particular seasons giving them a timeless quality. Keith exhibits widely and has work in private collections in the UK and beyond. Not to be missed.
‘In Its Own Space’
An exhibition of words and photographs
By Ken Rich
19th September to 7th October
Ken Rich is a performance artist and photographer whose work explores the boundaries between photography and art. A photograph captures and freezes the unique moment in time when the shutter is released. But does it tell the full story? By bringing details into focus, Ken invites us to engage with the image and ask what is really happening. He uses both film and digital cameras, and while he may sometimes alter the colour saturation or contrast for dramatic effect, he does not ‘cheat’ by using photoshop to radically change an image. His pictures remain as he took them.
This is Ken’s first exhibition at the Sheep Shed and we are looking forward to an exciting exhibition.
Made in the Hood – Various Artists
10th to 21st October
Made in the Hood are a group of about 15 artists based in North West Hampshire who exhibit together on a regular basis. They encompass artists working in both 2D and 3D and in a variety of different mediums so you can expect to see a selection of paintings, photographs, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery and glass in this exhibition.
One of this year’s Open Art Competition winners was Teresa Munn, a member of Made in the Hood, with one of her ceramic writing pictures. Come and see more. The perfect time and place to begin your Christmas shopping!
The Natural Touch
Wendy Warren, Neal Griffen & Cy Baker
24th October to 4th November
An exhibition of artwork and sculpture by three award winning Hampshire artists, who all derive their inspiration from the natural world. Cy Baker, Neal Griffin and Wendy Warren have collaborated to celebrate their mutual respect and passion for the living world and the creatures that inhabit it. Using a variety of media including pastels, oils, pencil, and even biro and marker pen, each artist endeavours to portray their subjects in thoughtful, expressive and evocative ways.
During the exhibition, an artist will be present some days. They will be working on a current project, and will be delighted to meet with you and discuss their work. Along with many original works of art and sculpture, prints and cards will also be available for purchase.
